In conjunction to the unit under the Transdisciplinary theme ‘How we
express ourselves’ students were engaged in a musical role play
called ‘The Ginger Bread Man’ where individual students used their
creativity to express their ideas and feelings. This musical play helped
students realize that dialogues, narration, musical scores and lyrics are very
much part of our lives and that its presence in literature can help readers
relate to fictional situations and characters. They discussed about ways they can express ideas, feelings and at
the same time enjoy their creativity. This was followed by a listening activity
where students listened to a musical theatre story ‘Thumbelina’ which
included music orchestrations by Elliot Lawrence, narrations by Del
Sharbutt and songs such as ‘ Sleep well my pretty little bird’.
